Our Lord never commands us to go somewhere that He has not already walked first. In the story of the gospel, we see that our God is so willing to give generously of Himself, and so when Jesus states that "it is more blessed to give than to receive", He isn't just speaking truth, He models it with His own life. We then respond to His love and mercy by living with open hands. In a world that seeks to hold on rather than give away, living with a heart of generosity looks radically different from our culture. What we do with what God has given us shows the world where our hearts are at and helps proclaim the gospel. We want to glorify God with every area of our lives, and that includes what we do with our finances.
