WHAT WE BELIEVE

WHAT DOES SOJOURN BELIEVE?

WE PRIORITIZE THE
GOSPEL
_____
The Gospel is the glorious
announcement of what God has
done through the life, death,
and resurrection of Jesus.
We long for all people to hear,
believe, and be changed by
the good news of Christ.
WE COMMIT TO
COMMUNITY
_____
We are saved out of isolation and
into a community forever known
as the redeemed people of God.
We demonstrate the gospel and
declare what Christ has done when
we love one another as a community
united in Him.
WE CARE ABOUT
CULTURE

_____
We are here on purpose and want
to be purposefully present in our city
for the good of our neighbor and
the glory of God.
WE VALUE HISTORY

_____
We are part of a historic movement
of men and women who pursued God
at great risk. We prioritize ancient liturgies
and seek to learn from the witness of
those who have gone before us.

ESSENTIAL BELIEFS

There is one God, eternally existing in Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. 34:5-6; Romans 8; Ephesians 1:13-14, Jam. 2:19 Those trusting Christ should repent of sin, confess their faith, and be baptized. Romans 10:9; Acts 2:38
Out of Love, God sent His son Jesus Christ to die for our sins and rise from the dead, to rescue sinners and redeem creation. 1 Corinthians 15:1-8, Col. 1:12-20, John 20:30-31 The church is the body of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit to continue the task of reaching the lost, disciple the saved, and reflecting the kingdom in mercy, unity, and love.  Ephesians 4:1-16; John 17:20
Salvation is a free gift of God. Made possible by the death and resurrection of Jesus and received by Faith. Romans 3:23, 6:23; John 3:16

Christ will one day return, restore creation and reign forever. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

When we die, we will either be separated from God by sin or united with Him eternally through faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. John 3:16; John 14:1-3; Revelation 20:10,15

The Bible is the inspired word of God and is the final authority in life and doctrine. 2 Timothy 3:16, John 17:17, 2 Peter 1:21
